Mike Ndegwa | Natural Health Guide
Helping people understand their body’s terrain and rebuild the foundations of health.

Mike Ndegwa is a Natural Health Guide who helps people look beyond isolated symptoms and diagnosis labels to understand the underlying terrain of the body.
His approach is centred on food, daily rhythm, and the body’s natural capacity to restore balance.
Rather than asking only, “What is the symptom?”, Mike asks:
What is happening underneath it?
How are digestion and absorption functioning?
How is the liver handling its workload?
Is the body moving fluids and waste effectively?
What is happening with blood sugar, sleep and daily rhythm?
Is the nervous system receiving enough safety and recovery?
These questions form the foundation of his work.
Why I Do This Work
Mike’s interest in natural health began with personal experience.
More than two decades ago, he watched his grandmother struggle with chronic hyper-acidity that eventually progressed into a hernia. Seeing her live with persistent discomfort left a lasting impression.
Years later, Mike experienced his own health challenge when he was diagnosed with Helicobacter pylori. The experience prompted deeper questions about digestion, food, the microbiome and why symptoms develop in the first place.
Instead of stopping at the diagnosis, he began researching.
That curiosity became a long-term study of how food, digestion, fermentation, lifestyle and the body’s internal environment interact.
Over the years, that work has evolved into a broader approach to natural health; one that looks at the terrain rather than treating every symptom as an isolated event.
From Gut Health to Terrain Medicine
An important part of Mike’s early work was fermentation.
In 2014, he discovered kefir and began exploring its role in supporting the gut. In 2017, he introduced kefir publicly in Kenya through KefirKenya.com.
That experience taught him something important:
The body is a system.
Digestion affects absorption.
Absorption affects nourishment.
Nourishment affects tissues and metabolism.
The liver, gut, lymphatic system and nervous system constantly interact.
This understanding eventually developed into the framework Mike now calls Terrain Medicine.
The Terrain Medicine Approach
Terrain Medicine looks at the conditions in which the body is trying to function.
Mike works primarily through four interconnected areas:
The Liver
The liver is central to metabolism, bile flow, hormone processing and the handling of many substances the body needs to process.
The Gut
Digestion and absorption determine how effectively food becomes nourishment. The gut also plays an important role in immune and metabolic function.
The Lymph
The lymphatic system is part of the body’s fluid movement, immune defence and waste-clearance network.
The Nervous System
Sleep, stress, recovery, appetite, digestion and daily rhythm are deeply connected to nervous-system regulation.
These four areas are not treated as separate systems.
They influence one another.
That is why Mike’s work focuses on patterns rather than isolated symptoms.
Food First. Rhythm Matters.
Mike’s approach is deliberately practical.
Food is not simply a list of calories, nutrients or restrictions. It is part of the information and building material the body receives every day.
His work therefore places emphasis on:
- Real, nutrient-dense foods
- Adequate protein and healthy fats
- Proper preparation and digestibility
- Cooked foods where appropriate
- Healthy digestive function
- Blood-sugar stability
- Consistent meal timing
- Sleep and circadian rhythm
- Warm fluids and appropriate hydration
- Supporting the body’s natural processes rather than constantly adding more interventions
The objective is not to create a lifetime of complicated rules.
The objective is to find what the body needs and build a rhythm that can actually be lived.
How I Work With People
Every person brings a different history, environment, diet, routine and set of symptoms.
So Mike does not believe in forcing everyone into the same protocol.
His work looks at the person’s current terrain, identifies the areas carrying the greatest load, and then builds support progressively.
This may involve working through different stages of a healing program rather than attempting to change everything at once.
The guiding principle is simple:
Take load off the body. Restore the foundations. Then build forward.
What Makes This Approach Different
Mike’s work is not built around chasing symptoms one by one.
It is about looking for relationships and patterns.
A digestive complaint may involve more than digestion.
Poor sleep may be connected to more than bedtime habits.
Changes in weight, cravings or blood sugar may reflect more than calories.
Hormonal symptoms may involve the liver, gut, nourishment and nervous system together.
This systems-based perspective allows the work to move from:
“What can we do about this symptom?”
toward:
“What conditions might be contributing to this pattern?”
That distinction is central to Terrain Medicine.
Natural Health, With Respect for Conventional Care
Natural health does not have to mean rejecting modern medicine.
Mike’s approach is focused on what can be supported through food, daily rhythm and foundational health practices, while recognising that conventional medical assessment and treatment have an important place.
Prescribed medication should not be stopped or changed without the appropriate medical professional.
The goal is to help people become more informed about their bodies and more intentional about the foundations that support health.
The Work Today
Today, Mike works with people from different backgrounds and locations through personalised natural-health guidance, educational content and structured healing programs.
His work includes:
Personalised Natural Health Guidance
Individual assessment and structured programs built around the person’s terrain and current needs.
Educational Writing & Research
Articles and educational resources exploring digestion, metabolism, hormones, nutrition, the nervous system and the interconnected nature of health.
Terrain-Based Healing Programs
Progressive programs that work through foundational areas before moving toward deeper rebuilding and integration.
Fermentation & Traditional Food Practices
Continuing education around traditional food preparation and fermentation as part of a broader food-based approach.
A Personal Note
Mike does not claim to have every answer.
What continues to drive his work is curiosity; the willingness to observe carefully, question assumptions, study patterns and learn from the people he works with.
After years of studying natural health and observing different healing journeys, one principle continues to stand out:
The body is not a collection of separate symptoms. It is an interconnected system.
Understanding that system changes the way we approach health.
And sometimes, the most important step is not adding something new.
It is removing the load that has been preventing the body from doing what it already knows how to do.
Begin Where You Are
Your health story does not have to be reduced to a diagnosis.
There is a bigger picture.
Understand your terrain.
Restore your foundations.
Build a healthier rhythm.
